I obtained my Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University in 2001. I am licensed by the State of Arizona in Marriage and Family Therapy (license # LMFT-10149).
A client once referred to me as a “jeans and t-shirt type of therapist”. This moniker could not be more appropriate. I believe paramount in the therapy process is your comfort and your trust. I do everything I can to provide a comfortable atmosphere. I do not try to accomplish this through the use of miniature waterfalls, incense, or magic rocks. Instead, I try to provide an environment in which you simply feel comfortable to be you. Throughout the therapy process I will do everything I can to earn your trust.
My approach in therapy is to focus on building strengths and looking for solutions to any issues you would like to address. I have a strength based view on each client as an individual or as a couple. We will begin to build a therapeutic relationship during our first session. This very first session is also when you will be asked to begin paying attention to your feelings of comfort. I will assist you in determining how the issues you have in your life have come to be and how they continue to exist. I will work with each person and each family collaboratively to develop the treatment goals you would like to work towards. I work with couples, individuals, and families. My experience involves working with a wide array of presenting problems. Some of these include, but are not limited to, relationship issues, anxiety, sadness, grief, loss, behavior problems at work and/or school, anger management, self-esteem, and family problems. I have experience and training in a number of different therapy modalities. Most often, I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR and mindfulness to assist you in accomplishing your goal.
